Sephora Haul & Makeup Review

Sephora Haul 2017 Melanie Mineau

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

If you follow me on Snapchat, then you probably already know that I went IN at the Sephora Sale over the weekend. I'm going to justify my splurge though, because A. I needed to re-stock on some staples B. there was a sale (I mean, 15% OFF of everything? Sign me up!) C. it happened to be Payday Friday. Coincidence? I think not. and D. YOLO. Okay, now that we've all validated my haul as necessary, let's digress...

Lots of people messaged me on Snapchat and Insta Stories and asked me to share what I bought. Usually you wouldn't have to ask me twice! However, I was leaving for Disney early the next morning and had already packed some of the products away. It was too late to pull everything back out. I decided I'd do a blog post instead. Plus, this way I can review the products for you and let you know my first impressions and share some of my favorites!

1. Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Gloss (shade: Sugar Sugar)

Love this gloss! The particular Sephora location I went to no longer carries my favorite YSL lip-glosses (these), so when I asked about them the sales girl steered me to Marc Jacobs instead. I'm happy she did, because this is my new favorite lipgloss. It reminds me of the Smashbox lip-gloss in the shade "Pout", that I used to wear constantly. I didn't care for how it smelled though. Fortunately, this has a pleasant smell and still gives your lips that pale pink hue. The texture is smooth and not gooey like some glosses can be. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. Keep in mind that it is a lip-gloss though, so it doesn't last nearly as long as a colored lip-stain or lipstick.

2. Too Faced Sun Bunny Natural Bronzer

This is the only bronzer I use, which is why I constantly need to restock it. When you live in Florida, but don't look like you live in Florida for some reason (why am I so pale?!), bronzer becomes your best friend. I use this bronzer to contour too!! Don't let the "sparkley-ness" of the bronzer scare you either. It gives you more of a glistening shimmer look, not sparkly stripper.

3. Retractable Sephora Eyeliner (shade: Black, Classic Black)

WHY have I been wasting my life away sharpening my eyeliner?! That's the actual thought that went through my head after using this eyeliner for the first time. I've been using the basic Sephora 12-hour eyeliner pencil in "Black Lace" for years now and I still love it, however HELLO! Ain't nobody got time to be sharpening a pencil every day before work and then picking up the little pencil shreds that seem to somehow get EVERYWHERE after. I mean, on the weekends, I can commit to sharpening and taking my time with precise pencil winged liner. On a Wednesday however, mama needs an always ready liner and to not hassle with a sharpener and the stress that comes along with it. That is why this little retractable gem is my new morning time saver and I recommend it be yours too.

4. COVER FX Pressed Mineral Foundation

Powder perfection! This powder gives me Goldie Locks feels, because it's JUST RIGHT. My skin is uber-sensitive and prone to breakouts, which really hinders my choice when it comes to powders. MAC studio fix: great for certain occasions, but makes me break out, Bare Minerals: too sheer to cover my breakouts, Smashbox halo powder: love it, but it's too messy and bulky to bring everywhere in my purse. The list could truly go on and on. I've tried everything! This powder works for me though. My skin type: prone to breakouts/combination skin (dry chin and oily everywhere else). It's lightweight, so it doesn't make me break out, yet it still gives me enough coverage for spots left behind by old breakouts.

5. Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream by IT Cosmetics (shade: Medium)

The verdict is still out on this one. I bought it because my best friend Whitney recommended it. I also saw the display at Sephora that said it helps cover redness from rosacea, which unfortunately I have. I use prescription Finacea foam daily for it, but I still have some residual redness. I was hoping this would do the trick and it does! However, it also leaves my face feeling really greasy a few hours into wearing it. I find myself constantly blotting the oil from my forehead and chin. My bestie still swears by it though, which goes to show ya how everyone's skin can be so different! What works for one person, may not work for another. Whitney (who has awesome skin and always looks great-- so I trust her!) said that she uses a translucent powder (like this one) on top of it and that prevents it from getting greasy. I'm going to try that tomorrow and see how it goes. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet on this one, because it does hide redness, lasts all day and hasn't made me break out! I'll keep ya posted!

6. Nars Creamy Concealer (shade: Custard)

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! This is a staple in my make-up bag and I cannot say enough great things about it! I love the texture, I love the long-lasting wear, I love how I can use it to conceal/color correct/highlight/contour. Basically, it does everything but walk my dog. This is way more than a concealer it is THE concealer. I go through a tube of it every other month, because I use it that often. I highly recommend it, if you can't already tell! Tip: Definitely set it with a translucent powder (this one's my fave) if you're going to be somewhere hot or need it to stay in place for an extended period of time.

7. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (shade: Peaceful)

This is my fifth time purchasing one of these blushes. I love them. I thought this shade was nice and summery. These blushes are extremely pigmented, which is what I look for. I want a blush you can see and that will last all day (or night). Not gonna lie- the pigmentation can be a real surprise at first! So, be light-handed and build the color up, unless you're into that whole Raggedy Anne red cheek look.

8. Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss (shade: Kristen)

I swear, everything that Anastasia touches turns to gold! Not only does she have the eyebrow game on lock (I love all of her eyebrow/eyeliner products), but now she's killing it with these lip-glosses. They are the most pigmented lip glosses I've ever used. They're as pigmented as Kat Von D's liquid lipsticks (which are amazing!), but in a gloss form. They remind me a lot of Kylie Jenner's lip-glosses, which as we all know can be impossible sometimes to get, but are amazing! I can't wait to get more colors, because so far I'm loving the one I bought.

Yay!! The BEAUTYBLENDER now comes in black! I've tried so many dupes for this sponge in hopes of finding one with a lower price-point. Unfortunately, I've had zero luck. No sponge blenders that I've tried have worked as well as the official BEAUTYBLENDER brand. So, here ya go BEAUTYBLENDER-- take my money! Since you're supposed to replace these sponges every 3 months (let's be honest, we all extend their lifespan), I was due for a new one. I was happy to see that they now come in black too, because I'm not really a huge fan of bright pink. I will admit though, I LOVE the feeling of a new BEAUTYBLENDER and you know what they say, once you go black you never go back. ;)

I hope you found these reviews helpful! Let me know if you end up trying out any of the products and what you think! I always love discovering new products too (because duh, more trips to Sephora), so leave a comment below and let me know what you're favorite beauty product is.
