Hey guys! I can't believe it's already been a week since my last post. I promise I'm working on getting a schedule together in order to update my site more frequently. My goal is to have at least two posts a week. Life tends to get in the way though. Prime example: As I'm typing this I'm watching "The Real Housewives of Orange County" and Ziggy (my yorkie) is driving me nuts. He keeps wanting to play fetch and keeps bringing his toy to me. He has no qualms about actually walking ONTO my keyboard, even while I'm typing. It's super annoying, but also ridiculously cute, so I can't complain too much.
The most exciting news that I have to share with you today is that it's my boyfriend's and my 5 year anniversary. Holy crap! Where has time gone? and wait, why is my left ring finger still not sparkling?! I kid...sort of. ;)
For those who don't know, my boyfriend and I are currently long-distance. He's in Florida and I'm in DC. We have only been doing this long-distance thing for the last year of our relationship, since I moved to DC to take a job. That might sound crazy to you-- why move away from the man of your dreams for a job?! Sometimes I think the same thing, but hear me out. A. A relationship doesn't pay my bills. B. I got offered a great position doing something I love and C. There was no ring on my finger. Okay, okay, I'll stop bringing up the ring thing. lol
Anyway, I wouldn't trade my decision to move for the world. I've gained so much work experience, have made amazing friends, and absolutely love living in DC. It truly has made Brian's and my relationship stronger than ever and I've grown so much individually as well. Long distance definitely tests your commitment to each other though. I'm not talking about the monogamy part; you must also commit time to one another. Taking time to "check-in" during the day or an hour to face-time at night is what really keeps our bond strong. I still fall in love with him more and more everyday.
As tough as it is that Brian isn't in DC today for our 5th anniversary, it was extremely special to come home to the two-dozen roses that he sent. This long-distance chapter of our relationship will surely be something that we will both never forget. Even though we're celebrating tonight apart, it's a celebration nonetheless. It's a celebration of the last 5 amazing years together and to the many years to come. It also helps knowing that he'll be here next week. ;)
Hope you all have an amazing day and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABE (if you're reading this). I LOVE YOU!
